Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time. Emergencies will always be given priority and our reception staff will attempt to contact you if there is any unforeseen delay or your doctor has been called away. Longer consultation times are available, so please ask our receptionists if you require some extra time. This helps us stay on time so you don’t have to wait. If you or a family member requires an interpreter service, we can organise this for you, please let us know when you make the appointment.
Fees are payable at the time of consultation by cash, cheque, Mastercard or Visa. The Standard Consultation Fee is displayed in the reception area of the surgery - detailed fees are available for other services. If you have any difficulty in paying our fees, please discuss it with us.
GP Leura bulk bills pensioners, Veterans, Health Care Card holders and children under 16 years of age.Your doctor will make arrangements for you to return to obtain test results. It is important that all patients know their test results and an appointment should be made to obtain results unless other arrangements have been made with your doctor.
Health assessments and GP/Team care management plans have been introduced for people with chronic and complex medical conditions.
If you are 75 years or older you are eligible for an annual health assessment- please make an appointment with our nurse for an initial checkup and then a follow-up appointment with your regular doctor. GP and Team care Management Plans involve your GP co-ordinating a comprehensive plan for your health issues. They involve at least 2 other health professionals and potentially allow for Medicare subsidized services for allied health visits. Patients who are aged 40-49 or who have chronic heart conditions are eligible for diabetes and heart related assessments.We provide 24 hour care for regular patients with genuine after hour emergencies. Home visits are available for regular patients whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery. GP Leura doctors may be contacted during normal surgery hours. If the doctor is with a patient a message will be taken and you will be advised by the reception staff when it is likely that the doctor will return your call. Your call will always be put through to the doctor in an emergency.
At GP Leura we are committed to preventive care. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventive health services appropriate to your care. If you do not wish to be part of this system please let us know at reception.
Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff. We do not pass on data to third parties. We maintain systems to ensure security of all computerised notes and data.
If you have a problem we would like to hear about it. Please feel free to talk to your doctor or receptionist. You may prefer to write to us or use our suggestion box. We take your concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously. However, if you wish to take the matter further and feel that you need to discuss the matter outside of the surgery there are several options available including The Medical Registration Board, AMA or Health Care Complaints Commission:
