Dr Nicholas Tziavaras

Dr Nicholas Tziavaras

MBBS FRACGP

Dr Nicholas Tziavaras graduated from Sydney University in 1988. He completed General Practice training through the RACGP program, gaining FRCAGP in 1995. He spent initial time in general practice in a group practice in Neutral Bay, Sydney before moving to the Blue Mountains and setting up General Practice Leura in 2005. He is passionate about patients receiving comprehensive health care in a timely, affordable manner. ​ He has a special interest in the management of chronic health conditions. Helping patients live independent lives. Outside of medicine, he is married with 2 adult children. His interests include sports, such as rugby league, cricket (umpiring the occasional game) and trying to keep fit and healthy.




Dr Hussun Jahan

MBBS FRACGP DAME

Dr Hussun graduated with an MBBS with the gold medal in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 2007 from the University of the South Pacific in 2002. She worked in hospitals in Fiji as well as a general practitioner until 2007 when she moved to Queensland. In 2010 she qualified as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practice. She also worked as a Government Medical Officer in Queensland. In 2018 her husband had a transfer to the beautiful Blue Mountains and since then she has been working at General Practice Leura. She enjoys all aspects of general practice from looking after babies to the elderly including women’s health, chronic disease management and believes in a holistic approach to health. She also has a special interest in Aviation Medicine and has been a DAME since 2014. She is a Member of the Australasian Society of Aerospace Medicine. She also has a Diploma in Dermoscopy and has special interests in Skin Cancer Medicine. She is a member of Skin Cancer College Australasia. Outside of medicine, she loves reading, travelling, gardening, spending time with family and friends especially her beautiful little boy.

Dr Louise Karan was awarded her RACGP fellowship in 2018. She graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2005. Louise provides patient-centred generalist care including acute injuries, mental health care needs, and chronic and complex care needs. She currently also provides care at Wyong Hospital's Urgent Care Centre, with a focus on walk-in lacerations, fractures, eye complaints, and sporting injuries. Louise has a varied background as a website creator, podcast editor, musician, music teacher, film and theatre reviewer, and ex-soldier in the Australian Defence Force. She was the Director of Publications for Sydney University's Medical Society; assisted in the development and creation of web sites for clinical schools, research institutions, and student learning delivery sites at Sydney University's Faculty of Medicine; previously performed in the Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra; and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree with honours in Music and English from Sydney University. Louise currently enjoys Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at their family-run Jiu Jitsu Academy in Springwood.

Practice Nurse

Nicole Elsegood is our Practice Nurse.

Over 30 years of nursing experience. Providing all aspects of nursing care including spirometry, ECG's, dressings and wound care, vaccinations and childhood immunisations and women's health (cervical screening and breast checks).

Nicole is an elite athlete. She competes in marathons, triathlons and Ironman competitions throughout the world, regularly achieving a place in her age category. She is admired as a role model by athletes of all ages, and is particularly known for always encouraging others while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Clinical Psychologist

I have worked in both the public and private sectors for 25 years. In the public sector I worked in mental health services for people over 60 years of age. In the private sector I provide psychological services to people over 18 years of age who present with mental health issues in the mild, moderate and severe ranges. Clients are referred to me under GP Mental Health Care Plans.

Thrive Nutrition & Dietetics Founder, Accredited Practising Dietitian, Accredited Nutritionist, FODMAP dietitian and SDA Sports Dietitian.

Amanda founded Thrive Nutrition & Dietetics because she is passionate about connecting people to what matters – their health, their food and each other. As Australia’s leading rock climbing dietitian, she prides herself on an innovative and evidence-based approach to nutrition, health and performance. Working with private practice patients and clients across a diverse range of life-stages and experiences and consulting across the sporting and aged care sectors, Amanda knows that long-lasting behavioural change is essential to health and happiness. She is passionate about people feeling and performing the best they can and takes an in-depth, evidence based approach to nutrition, health and performance. Amanda founded Thrive N&D to help people and athletes of all levels achieve their sporting dreams and health goals and to help non athletes evolve into a healthier and happier version of themselves.

ALISON DORBER

Dietitian

Accredited Practising Dietitian and FODMAP dietitian.

Alison is passionate about health and wellness and helping her clients to achieve their goals while finding joy in the food they are eating. Alison has extensive experience working with clients across a diverse spectrum, from pregnancy through to aged care. As the mother of a young family, she is keenly interested in kids nutrition and how we can give our children the greatest foundation for a healthy life. Whatever your life-stage, Alison utilises evidence-based and highly individualised strategies to ensure that your nutrition needs are managed with confidence. When she’s not working with clients, she can be found spending time with her family, cooking and creating recipes in the kitchen, reading and exploring the Blue Mountains.

Alison works with all areas of nutrition but has a special interest in:

  • Nutrition during pregnancy and working with children and their families.
